This song was written shortly after 9/11. I had started a really depressing song called "Concrete Rain" which was so direct and depressing I just could not take it any more. I think this song is much more subtle, and attempts to view the world from a glass half full perspective. . . In Dreams Copyright 2001 Damon Henrichs If I live a hundred years And never settle any scores If I cry a million tears And never know what for I won’t need no explanations I won’t need to have a reason why . . . Cause I believe, that laughter can come from pain It’s like singin’ in the rain And I believe, that true love’s not far from hate If you’ll only see, the way that I see In Dreams In dreams all of my memories Are protected from the past And long lost hopes like refugees Will all be free at last I guess I have high expectations Or maybe dreams are just my reason why I believe, that laughter can come from pain It’s like singin’ in the rain And I believe, that true love’s not far from hate If you’ll only see, the way that I see In Dreams Yeah when I open up my eyes When I wake up from my sleep When I ‘m underneath blue skies When I’m living on the street No no don’t tell me that I’m crazy, Don’t tell me that I’m beat ‘Cause I believe, in dreams . . . I believe, that laughter can come from pain It’s like singin’ in the rain And I believe, that true love’s not far from hate If you’ll only see, the way I see If you’ll just believe The way that I see In Dreams |
